Last Saturday, the journalist Fábio Turci, 48 years old, used her social media to talk about rumors about her sexual orientation. In a video, the former SPTV anchor revealed that he was always questioned about his supposed homosexuality, but he preferred to ignore the rumors to avoid gossip.
“I’ve seen this question several times here on Instagram, on Twitter, on YouTube, in other places on the internet and outside of it too, here in the real world, and I’ve heard of people asking their friends if I’m gay”, started.
“Maybe even you have this doubt and I never denied it because I thought ‘if I deny it, it might seem like I’m worried about defending myself from something negative’, and being gay is not negative, it shouldn’t be seen that way, so I wouldn’t deny it,” he added.
“I said ‘if people want to think that I’m gay, that doesn’t bother me’, but then I realized that people only think that I’m gay because they’re not used to seeing a straight, cis man talking about homophobia and transphobia, and then I changed my position, I started to deny it, because I understand that it is necessary to naturalize the participation in this debate of those who are not LGBTI+, especially because it is people like me (heterosexuals) who practice acts of discrimination in the vast majority”, he said.
