NASA helicopter covers the longest distance to Mars

The helicopter set the previous record on April 8, 2022, when it covered a distance of 704 meters in one flight.

NASA’s Ingenuity Mars lander managed an amazing distance of 579 meters during its 63rd mission to the Red Planet. Space writes about it.

Scientists say that the helicopter set the previous record on April 8, 2022, when it was able to cover a distance of 704 meters in one flight.

This flight lasted 143 seconds. The Ingenuity helicopter flew at a speed of 22 km/h and was at a height of 12 meters above Mars.

But these figures are not new records either, because while the longest flight of a NASA helicopter to the Red Planet lasted 169.5 seconds, the aircraft previously rose to a maximum height of 20 meters and also gained speed which is 36 km/h.

We remind you that the OSIRIS-Rex spacecraft flying close to Earth will drop a capsule with soil samples collected on the Bennu asteroid on top of it.
