Canadian-American actor and film producer Ryan Reynolds, 46, who rose to fame in the superhero film Deadpool, received the Robin Williams Legacy of Laughter Award. It happened on October 8 at the annual Bring a Change in Consciousness gala in New York, reports Bang Premier.
“Miss Robin Williams. I’m sure everyone does. Her children turned her legacy into a living, breathing love letter for good. It was a joy to receive the Robin Williams Legacy Award last week,” said Reynolds.
Bring Change to Mind was founded by actress Glenn Close, dedicated to ending the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness.
“Glenn is literally a life saver by making space for these conversations. I love this woman,” added the actor.
Comedian Robin Williams famously committed suicide at age 63 in August 2014 after years of battling depression, leaving behind two sons, Zack and Cody, and a daughter, Zelda.
An autopsy revealed that he suffered from Lewy body dementia, which can cause behavioral changes including hallucinations, delusions and mood swings.
“I remember standing backstage before the curtain opened and thinking I’m literally going to die here. The curtain is going to open and I’m going to throw up or something horrible is going to happen! But as soon as the curtain opens… it’s like something else. cool guy inside of me took over “I feel my heart rate drop and my breathing calm down and I just become a different person,” added Ryan.
