He hopes that his example will inspire people to be less dependent on money and industrialization.

Mark Boyle studied business and economics in college, but decided to give up money in 2008. He wanted to embrace a “natural” life, reports CNN.

One night in 2007, he and a friend discussed the world’s problems and how best to solve them in order to make a difference for himself and the world. And I realized at that moment that the main problem of humanity is money.

So Mark sold his boat and began preparing for a new life.

“It was hard the first few months, just finding my way,” the man said.

He then published a book detailing his struggles.

“I became convinced that true security is friendship, not money. Much of the poverty in the West is psychological. True freedom is cooperation,” Boyle added.

In 2017, Mark decided to take his minimalist lifestyle to another level by “de-industrializing.” He began to live without electricity or water, radio or Internet.

“This lifestyle that I have adopted today is often referred to as the ‘simple life’, but it is completely deceiving,” Mark explains.
