In March, Willis’ family announced the end of his film career due to health problems. He was diagnosed with aphasia and then dementia.
Bruce Willis’ friend, producer Glenn Gordon Caron, has spoken out about how dementia has affected the actor’s life. Page Six writes about it.
He said he has been trying to visit his 68-year-old friend almost every month since he was first diagnosed with aphasia and then dementia in March 2022.
“It’s not always possible, but I try to talk to him and his wife. I really want to stay in his life,” said the director.
He added, it is painful to watch what the disease does to the actor. In particular, Glenn noticed that the Hollywood star’s ability to communicate suddenly weakened amid his battle with dementia.
Caron also said that when he sees an actor, the Die Hard star needs a certain amount of time to remember him.
“I feel that in the first one to three minutes he will know who I am. He is not very talkative. Before, he read voraciously but now he doesn’t read anymore. He can no longer use all those language skills, but Bruce is still him too. When you’re with him, you know he’s Bruce and you’re thankful he’s here, but the joy of life is gone,” he said.
It was previously reported that Bruce Willis may not have realized he was suffering from frontotemporal dementia.
