Scottish actor David McCallum, best known for his role as medical examiner Dr. Donald Mellard in NCIS: Special Victims Unit, has died at the age of 90. It was reported by the CBS TV channel.
It was learned that the TV star passed away on Monday, September 25, of natural causes, surrounded by his family at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
“David was a talented actor and writer loved around the world. He lived an incredible life, and his legacy will live on forever through his family and the countless hours spent on film and television that will never fade,” CBS said in a statement.
It is noted that David McCallum gained fame in the 1960s, when the TV series The Man from UNCLE was released. His role in this project earned him an Emmy and Golden Globe nomination. He also starred in the films The Great Escape, A Night to Remember, Mosquito Squadron, Freud and the Greatest Story Ever Told and the TV series NCIS: SWAT.
