Erika Hilton (Psol-SP) was a victim of transphobia during a meeting of the Chamber’s Social Security, Social Assistance and Family Committee.
During the event, there was an attempt to vote on a bill that prohibits same-sex marriage in Brazil.
After hours of discussion, the vote was postponed until September 27th and a public hearing will take place before the vote.
At the event, deputy Pastor Sergeant Isidório (Avante-BA) said: “God naturally created man and woman, who are equal to children.” Furthermore, he also said: “Two men or two women on an island, you won’t find anything”. The deputy also said, repeatedly, that transsexual sexual orientation is a “fantasy”.
The deputy’s speeches generated a discussion among the members present. Erika Hilton classified the position as “absurd”.
“The Bible is not nonsense”,said the deputy who, in addition to the insults, called the deputy a “friend”.
