South Korean actor Byun Hee Bong, a frequent collaborator of Oscar-winning director Bong Joon Ho, has died at the age of 81 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. The Daily Mail reported this.
The celebrity’s family confirmed the news that he died of a rare type of cancer in a statement to local news outlet Yonhap News Agency on Monday, September 18.
It is worth recalling that Byuan Hee-bong debuted as an actor in 1970, but became most famous for his collaboration with Joon Ho. In particular, he starred in his films Okay (2017), Dinosaur Attack (2006) and Memories of the Killing (2003).
In 2020, he was awarded the Order of Cultural Merit, considered the second highest cultural honor by the South Korean government.
His latest work is a role in a Korean drama series My Lawyer Mr. Cho 2: Crime and Punishment in 2019.
It was previously reported that American actor Billy Miller died two days before his birthday.
