Bad Bunny commented on the accusations of queerbaitingmeans using the LGBTQIAPN+ community to gain more visibility, after participating in the VMA in 2022.
The singer was heavily criticized after kissing one of his dancers during his performance at the awards show. In an interview with Vanity Fair, the artist commented on the occasion and stated that he wears pieces aimed at women to feel good.
“I receive a multitude of negative, sexist and homophobic comments, without being homosexual, for dressing like this”he spoke.
According to the singer, he wears clothes to feel comfortable: “Maybe homosexuals suffer more, but it’s not like I put on a skirt and go out and they say, ‘Look, that’s cool.’ Everyone needs to feel comfortable with who they are and how they feel. Like, what defines a man, what defines being masculine, what defines being feminine? I can’t really gender clothes.”
“You don’t know the reasons why a person is using it. You weren’t on his mind when he decided to wear a skirt or blouse. You don’t know what’s inside him, what’s in his heart. You do it because you want to and it makes you feel good and happy,” completed.
