LGBTQIA+ parade in Rio de Janeiro takes place on November 19th

The organizers reveal that they are seeking to mobilize sponsors for the event

Since 1995, the LGBTQIAPN+ Parade on Copacabana Beach, in Rio de Janeiro, and this year, the event will take place on November 19th, according to information from Grupo Arco-Íris de Cidadania LGBTI+, the organizer of the Parade.

Grupo Arco-Íris stated in the statement that it is already planning sponsorship from Rio de Janeiro City Hall through the Sexual Diversity Coordination, but added that it is still seeking support from brands in the private sector, state and federal governments.

“We are seeking sponsorship from the government of the state of Rio de Janeiro, through the Rio Without LGBTIphobia Program of the Secretariat of Social Development and Human Rights, the federal government and the private sector to obtain the resources to allow the 28th LGBTI+ Pride Parade to be held Rio and its official programming in the areas of health, culture and citizenship, with actions in several cultural centers during the month of November and on the Copacabana waterfront during the day of the Rio LGBTI+ Parade”, informed the group.

This year, the Parade in the capital of Rio reaches its 28th edition. Last year, the demonstration was held on November 27th and was attended by ten electric trios. In addition to celebrating the freedom of people from the LGBTQIAPN+ community, the event addresses other themes, such as the preservation of the Amazon and the environment.

Cláudio Nascimentopresident of Grupo Arco-Íris, stated that the Rio de Janeiro Parade was an inspiration for the act to be repeated in other parts of the country.

“It is the third largest event in the state of Rio de Janeiro in terms of tourism, and, in terms of number of people, the second largest LGBT event in the country. The parade mobilizes a very large structure”, he said.

“To finish some dialogues that we have been having with the state government, the federal government and the private sector, we think it is more appropriate to transfer, to guarantee the structure for the event, which takes 1.2 million people to Copacabana”, completed.

“We still don’t have the appropriate compensation for the size of the event. Further progress is needed”, he stated.

“We want companies, in addition to positioning themselves, to really invest in events, so that we can contribute to advancing community citizenship. Positioning is important, but investment is necessary”he spoke.
