The series Dahmer: An American Cannibal it was a success! The Netflix production moved social networks and became a subject among its viewers.
However, the streaming platform and the producer of the attraction had to take special care in some scenes so that the public did not have empathy for Jeffrey Dahmer.
Based on real facts and the true story of the serial killer, the series created by the filmmaker Ryan Murphy was starred by Evan Peters.
Stephanie Filoone of the attraction’s producers, said that the team had to take special care and some scenes were even edited so that there was no glamorization of the criminal.
She gave the example of a case. In one of the scenes, Dahmer returns from the army to have dinner with his parents. The scene was made shorter and other situations were added to provide context for the crimes committed by the murderer.
The idea was for the series to convey the disturbing aspects of the protagonist’s behavior.
“That intercut of seeing the weird things he’s already done helped give context to the horrible things that were happening, rather than having a guy just hanging out with his parents.”, said the producer.
Stephanie gave another example and cited the scene where the victims’ statements are read. The producer said that she and the crew were careful to treat those involved responsibly and respectfully.
