This Tuesday, the 29th, is celebrated the National Day of Lesbian Visibility. The date is an important milestone for the LGBTQIAP+ community, its struggles and causes.
To celebrate the date in style and put prejudice aside, we’ve separated a list of lesbophobic expressions and words that you should abolish from your vocabulary.
gay
Starting with the basics: gay is a term used for men who have relationships with other men. Therefore, the word does not suit a female reality.
male
The expression is used to refer to women who flee a standard of femininity imposed by society.
truck driver
The term is used pejoratively to portray women who have chosen to give up their femininity.
In the lesbian community, the participants use each other – which is allowed and respected by them -, since they chose to re-signify the term.
macho
The term is also a reference to women who have chosen to give up their femininity.
However, unlike ‘caminhoneira’, the expression is not accepted in the lesbian community and does not have a new meaning.
