The Museum of Sexual Diversity and Sesc 24 de Maio promote a public occupation to commemorate lesbian pride
Lesbian Pride: 40 years of Levante do Ferro’s Bar will arrive with everything for the public. The public occupation, organized by the Sexual Diversity Museum and Sesc 24 de Maio in partnership with Acervo Bajubá, Brazilian Lésbico Archive, Cine Sapatão, Gaavah, Memorial da Resistência and Museu Judaico, will take place next Saturday, 19.
The exhibition begins the program for Lesbian Pride and Visibility Month and will kick off especially on August 19, which is marked by the event in which, in 1983, lesbian activists occupied the extinct Ferro’s Bar, in São Paulo, in search of fight against censorship and discrimination.
This year, 40 years of occupation will be celebrated. For this reason, the institutions came together to hold a street fair. With exhibitors, DJ, musical performances and poets.
In addition, the event will feature the presentation of a public performance, in procession, for the opening of the exhibition. When Lesbians Stand Up – The Struggle and Dyke Resistance in the 1980swhich will inaugurate the new MDS educational and collection space.
