The court in Los Angeles sentenced the artist to ten years in prison for shooting the singer, as a result of which he was injured.
Canadian rapper Tory Lanez has been sentenced to ten years in prison for the shooting death of fellow musician Megan Thee Stallion. The BBC reported it.
The artist was sentenced to six months after a court session, where he was found guilty of three counts: assault with a semi-automatic weapon, possession of a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and use of gun with gross negligence. The 31-year-old man has been in custody since his conviction.
The prosecutor’s office asked for 13 years in prison from the judge. They said Tory Lanez deserved a long prison sentence for shooting a “vulnerable victim” on a quiet residential street and then mounting a “campaign to shame him” after the attack.
The rapper’s lawyer insisted that he will receive a suspended sentence and undergo treatment for drug addiction.
After the verdict was handed down, the defense said the client plans to appeal the verdict because of “significant problems” in the trial.
It is worth remembering that the artist shot the Grammy winner in the legs in an argument after a party in 2020.
The singer told the court that they had a disagreement over their previous relationship. The fight escalated and ended up insulting the couple. When the singer asked him to get out of the car, the rapper started shooting on the ground and yelled for him to “dance.” As a result of the shooting, Megan Thee Stallion survived surgery to remove bullet fragments from her leg.
It was previously reported that American singer Lizzo was sued by three of her former dancers.
The shooting happened at Alyona Alyona’s concert
