The artist restrained himself for several hours, because he was used to black humor and could tolerate it in his address. However, when the presenters started mocking the entire community, he left the stage.
Ukrainian singer MELOVIN, who appeared in the summer of 2021, left the comedy show Biography when the hosts started insulting representatives of the LGBTQ+ community. The artist announced it on social networks, showing a fragment of the upcoming release.
According to him, he went to this show with pleasure and at first he had a pleasant impression, especially behind the scenes, however, as the artist noted when they went on stage, almost immediately the jokes turned into holy intimidation.
“I’m used to being in a world of ignorance. I just turned on the sarcasm and that’s how the whole planned evening could go. But when the topic of LGBTQ + was touched, stereotypes followed, which I did not expect . hear from modern and progressive young people. This is only about me, this is one thing. But in my presence they insulted all representatives of society, both full Ukrainians. People who are not indifferent to mine and the interests I have been defending for a long time,” said the musician.
The artist also emphasized that this happened exactly when the whole world was celebrating Pride Month, making the incident even more unacceptable.
“To attend a show where sections of the population are insulted in my presence, where intolerance towards others is promoted, and more at a time when Ukraine has chosen the path towards European values. In a month called which is “pride month” around the world, when global brands express their support for the LGBTQ+ society, famous logos turn pink, and four guys from Ukraine, my age, try to shame only those who fight for loyalty. A wonderful contrast. Don’ You think? My country is about freedom. Glory to Ukraine!” – summed up MELOVIN.
