Tesla autopilot blamed for hundreds of accidents

About 800,000 electric cars of the American brand drive on the roads of the USA. They can keep their lane to themselves.

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said Tesla Autopilot caused 736 accidents. At the same time, in some accidents there are fatal cases. Motor1 writes about it.

NHTSA says 17 people have died since 2019 because of Tesla Autopilot.

This may be due to the removal of the radar, which helped the autopilot determine the distance to objects. It is also indicated that from 2021, Tesla’s electric cars will only be equipped with cameras that record everything that happens around the car.

NHTSA is currently conducting several investigations into this matter.

All Tesla electric vehicles have adaptive cruise control and automatic steering. Thus, the car can freely keep the lane.

Remember that Tesla on autopilot caused a massive accident. The electric car suddenly changed lanes and braked right on the highway. As a result, eight vehicles collided.

It was also reported that a nine-year-old child driving a Tesla ran into another car, after which his car was thrown onto the grass.
