A Florida court has dismissed a lawsuit filed by Samantha Markle accusing her half-sister, the Duchess of Sussex, of defamation. The Daily Beast writes about it.

The woman filed a lawsuit in March 2022. She claimed Meghan Markle allegedly lied about her life in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, as well as in the book Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of the Modern Royal Family.

However, the district judge dismissed the lawsuit due to the fact that the Duchess of Sussex spoke “about her childhood and relationship with her half-brother or sister”, and the expression of her opinion “cannot be proven false. “

“As a reasonable audience can understand, the defendant is only expressing an opinion about his childhood and relationship with his half-siblings. Thus, the court finds that the defendant’s statement is not subject to objective verification or empirical evidence. Since the statement cannot be proven false, it is protected from a defamation lawsuit (disgrace on honor, dignity and business reputation),” said the judge.

It was previously reported that Meghan Markle will restart her website The Tig, which she started after the release of the Force Majeure series.
