This is the action game that Capcom may never get over. Devil May Cry 5 is the best ever made. It takes everything the series got right, from Dante’s weapons to Nero’s motorized sword, and refines it as much as possible, as well as introducing another very different combat style with the mysterious third protagonist, V. He fights with the help of monsters that are references to several bosses from the first game.
Characters and Skills
Once you get the hang of it, you start to leave enemies with virtually no chance to react by abusing the skills very different from each monster, requiring different thinking than Dante and Nero’s agile and precise attacks. Nero has a new multi-ability bionic arm system (inspired by Mega Man), which opens up more possibilities to the arsenal that previously relied too heavily on the sword-powered Exceed system.
Visual is fantastic
The game switches between the three characters throughout the missions and everyone gets a good time in the spotlight, but DMC5 is enjoyable for more reasons than just its near-perfect gameplay. The visuals are fantastic, probably the most beautiful that the RE Engine of capcom produced so far – giving an ultra-realistic look to characters that should be over-the-top, impossibly handsome anime humans.
Soundtrack and other editions of the game
The soundtrack is of the best quality, far beyond the already classic ‘Devil Trigger’ theme, and the history it has at least one unexpected twist. Those with PS Plus Extra on PS4 have access to the original 2019 game. Those on PS5 can download the Special Edition, which was released with the console and comes with various visual modes (with ray tracing, 60fps or 120fps), the usual Turbo mode that makes everything 20% faster, Legendary Dark Knight mode that doubles the number of enemies and, the biggest attraction: controlling Vergil both in history and in Bloody Palace.
