Facial skin is one of the areas most exposed to external factors such as pollution, solar radiation and chemicals that can contribute to premature aging. A basic care routine is the best ally in prevention, in addition to improving the texture and appearance of the skin. However, how to define the most suitable skincare? Where to start?
From the Korean routine, with many steps, to the skin cycling – viral on Tiktok, which indicates only one product per day -, the way these routines are elaborated varies. According to dermatologist Bruno Lages, from Clínica Otávio Macedo & Associados, consulting a dermatologist is essential to design the best cycle of care for each person.
However, in order to begin the process of more actively caring for the skin In a practical way, the ABCs of skincare can be a good starting point. Therefore, below, the doctor shares care tips in three main stages: cleaning (A), treatment (B) and hydration (C). Check out!
the cleaning one
The first step involves the makeup removal and dirt to unclog pores, in addition to contributing to better absorption of products in the next step. Cleaning can be done with a product suitable for your skin:
- For oily ones: soap with salicylic acid and cleansing gel with glycolic acid;
- For dry skin: gel or soap with moisturizing and soothing ingredients such as aloe vera, chamomile and hyaluronic acid.
“For those who want practicality, cleansing oil is a great option for removing makeup while cleaning the skin,” says Bruno Lages.
B of treatment
It usually involves the use of some product to treat specific skin problems, such as acne, dark spots, wrinkles or dryness. Bruno Lages adds that serums, tonics or creams can be used at this stage.
“The tonic can remove makeup residues and oiliness from the previous step, as well as balance the skin’s pH. The serum has, in its composition, assets that help to treat and improve the skin; for example, hyaluronic acid can contribute to increased hydration, vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps even out skin tone, salicylic acid and niacinamide [servem] to fight acne”, he says.
C for hydration
This is a fundamental step in maintaining the skin’s protective barrier, in addition to keeping it soft. “For those with more sensitive skin, mild moisturizers are indicated that do not have fragrances or alcohol in their composition, so as not to cause irritation and redness. For combination and oily skin, it is important not to use products that cause oiliness, with a gel moisturizer being a good option”, explains the dermatologist.
Bruno Lages adds that, during the day, it is necessary to include sunscreen and drink plenty of water for a healthy skin and always consult your dermatologist about the best treatment or routine indicated.
