A native of Crimea noted that the struggle for the Ukrainian peninsula continues, and within it as well.
The singer Jamala, who comes from Crimea, remembered the peninsula’s pseudo-referendum, which took place on March 16, 2014. She wrote about it on Instagram.
In particular, the artist noted that Crimea was always Ukrainian for him, adding that at the beginning of the referendum, which was held illegally by Russia, thousands of people went to rallies with slogans: “Heroes are not dying!”.
He also said that the occupation of the peninsula was a painful news for him, because he had relatives and friends there. However, the performer, along with others, gathered on the Maidan, organized rallies and concerts so that everyone could hear the truth.
Jamala explained that now the struggle continues. In particular, during the general war, the resistance of the inhabitants of Crimea increased.
“Patriotic postcards, graffiti, blue and yellow ribbons spreading on the peninsula indicate to the invaders that they do not belong here. Moreover, since September 2022, the partisan movement has intensified in the territory, and the Ukrainian song has become a real symbol of resistance – Crimeans sing in Ukrainian on the streets of Yalta and Simferopol,” he wrote.
