The Resident Evil series is one of the most iconic video game franchises in history. The first release, in 1996, was for the PlayStation. Below, check out a summary of all 9 released to date!
1. Resident Evil (1996)
O game that started the franchise is set in a mansion in the mountains of Raccoon City, where a team of special agents is sent to investigate the disappearance of another team. There, they discover that the mansion is infested with zombies and other creatures.
two. Resident Evil 2 (1998)
The story takes place in Raccoon City, where an epidemic of the T-virus has turned the population into zombies. Players control Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield as they try to survive and escape the city.
3. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999)
Set shortly after the events of Resident Evil 2, the game follows Jill Valentine as she fights to survive an attack of zombies and other creatures in Raccoon City and is pursued by the powerful villain Nemesis.
4. Resident Evil Code: Veronica (2000)
The game follows Claire Redfield on a mission to find her brother, Chris, who has disappeared while investigating the Umbrella Corporation. She ends up trapped in an isolated prison on an island, facing mutated enemies.
5. Resident Evil 4 (2005)
A history takes place six years after the events of Resident Evil 2. The player controls Leon S. Kennedy, who has been hired to rescue the daughter of the President of the United States, Ashley Graham, from a religious sect in a Spanish village.
6. Resident Evil 5 (2009)
The story takes place ten years after the events of Resident Evil 2 and follows Chris Redfield as he works with BSAA agent Sheva Alomar to combat an organization seeking to spread a deadly virus across the world.
7. Resident Evil 6 (2012)
The story is told from multiple perspectives, following characters Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Jake Muller and Ada Wong as they fight a global threat from a highly contagious virus.
8. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (2017)
The game is set in an abandoned mansion in Louisiana, where the player controls Ethan Winters as he searches for his missing wife. A gameplay features a first-person perspective and a more horror-oriented style.
9. Resident Evil Village or Resident Evil 8 (2021)
The game takes place a few years after the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, where Ethan Winters lives in a village in Europe with his wife and daughter. When the daughter is kidnapped, he embarks on a journey to rescue her, encountering a host of supernatural enemies and a mysterious cult leader known as Mother Miranda.
In addition to these main games, the Resident Evil series also includes several spin-offs and remakes such as Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil Revelations.
