A classic from 1991, the film shows a father’s reaction to receiving the news of his only daughter’s engagement. And, frightened by the news, George Banks (Steve Martin) creates several situations to disrupt the union of the new couple and convince their daughter, Nina Banks (Diane Keaton), to give up. The production, which is a remake of a 1950s film starring Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor, is a traditional depiction of father jealousy over daughter and daddy’s little princess treatment.

2. Entering a cold

With great names in cinema, Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller interpret, respectively, father-in-law and son-in-law. The incandescent passion of Stiller’s character is struck by the reality of the difficulties he has to convince his father-in-law to be nice. For one weekend, the girlfriend’s father transforms the boy’s days in a disastrous way, evaluating whether he will be the right man for his daughter. The 2000 film was well received by film critics and the public.
