The title is given to the fourth and youngest child of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who was born on March 10, 1964.

Great Britain’s King Charles III has named the new Duke of Edinburgh, a title previously held by Queen Elizabeth’s husband, Prince Philip. This is now Prince Edward. The BBC writes about it.

It is noted that Charles III bestowed this title on his younger brother on his 59th birthday. She will stay with Prince Edward for the rest of her life.

Note that Prince Philip, who died on April 9, 2021, received the title of Duke of Edinburgh on the morning of his marriage to Queen Elizabeth, November 20, 1947.

He wore it for 73 years until his death.

Prince Andrew previously held the title of Earl of Wessex, and his wife Sophie was called the Countess of Wessex.

It is known that the new Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh will make their first visit to the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh on March 10.

Recall that King Charles III previously decided to finally cut all ties with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and said that they should leave Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
