The world’s smallest thief still fails to steal a jewel worth at least $1,000.
A video in which an ant, right under a person’s nose, tries to steal a diamond gemstone has gone viral on the Web. This amazing story is illustrated by IFLScience.
The footage shows how a tiny insect grabs a diamond weighing at least 0.5 carats and tries to drag it away “as a gift to the queen.” In particular, scientists say that ants actually collect different things to decorate the colony.
In this case, it is assumed that the insect clings to the gem due to the fact that it is probably coated with some kind of attractive substance.
“Ants are good foragers and are able to travel long distances in the environment to come home with valuable prey. However, as a rule, it costs about a thousand dollars. It is also known that ants do not only find food , but also to release feces or the bodies of their dead brothers, to make room in the colony and keep things safe.
However, the ant still failed to steal the diamond.
Recall that Lithuanian photographer Eugenijus Kavaliauskas took an ultra-close shot of an ant’s face, which looks like a frame from a horror movie.
The remains of the most ancient ant were found in a piece of amber
