“I felt vulnerable and invaded”

On this Friday, the 24th, Gleici Damasceno, aged 27, used her social networks to expose that she was a victim of racism at Guarulhos International Airport, in São Paulo. The influencer was returning from the United States when she was approached by an employee of the Federal Revenue.

“Guys, I never come to expose my life, but today was a day that I felt very vulnerable and invaded. As you accompany me, I always travel a lot and today I was returning from the United States, and I was in that part of protocol, normal, I stopped at the Federal Revenue Service, everything was normal, I don’t care about that, if you want to see my stuff, you can see it. But what made me like that was the type of approach.”, she began.

“The woman started asking normal things, but there was a question she asked… She said: ‘Wow, traveling twice a year is too expensive, right? How do you manage it?’. I said: ‘This is a comment racist”. he said.

“She started talking very loudly. I asked: ‘Is there anyone here I can report to? And she started saying that she was the authority there, in addition to some terms that I don’t remember very well. I was very nervous. I’ve never been in a situation like this.” vented.

“I understand the work of people who have to ask, press. My issue was not the questions, but the comment, especially when she said that racism was in me. She didn’t know me and judged. I know that if it was a white person, the comment would not have been made. We know when it is done with malice, with mockery”, lamented Gleici.

In the end, the influencer said that she was taxed for a cell phone bought last year in the United States, she completed saying that she was stressed with everything that she went through, but that, at the same time, she felt relieved to share, knowing that that pain it wasn’t just her.
