The politician called for tougher penalties against Russian artists who support the war in Ukraine.
The head of the Office of the President, Andrey Yermak, is angry that the Russian artist who supports the Putin regime, Philip Kirkorov, was invited to the prestigious Grammy 2023 music award. This was reported by The Guardian.
“In Kiev, we know Kirkorov very well. In June 2021, we recognized him as a “threat to the national security of Ukraine” and banned him from entering our country after he spoke in support of Russia’s annexation of Crimea. Last month , we add him to our list of Russian propagandists subject to personal sanctions for supporting Russian warfare, asking his listeners to stand and applaud the “heroes”, the Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine,” he said.
At the same time, Andrey Yermak added that he does not understand how a Russian pop star, who is often called Putin’s favorite singer, is safe in Western countries and attends various events.
“Kirokorov honestly made himself famous at the Grammys, posting selfies on social networks. A few days before that, he dined with Engelbert Humperdinck in Los Angeles and visited Las Vegas to watch Adele’s concert. How can such man is free in the USA? How does he walk at a time when so many Ukrainians are fighting for their lives?” the politician was furious.
