Carol Romano, the villain Mariana from ‘Beyond Illusion’, debuts on TV in style: “I feel privileged”

Actress Carol Romano spoke about her participation in ‘Beyond Illusion’

Carol Romano is living the dream of every actress debuting in her first soap opera as a villain, and despite the challenge of being on the air on the largest broadcaster in the country, she sees it as a pleasant learning opportunity.

“I know it’s a big responsibility, but I try to take it lightly and see my work environment as a place where I can, above all, have fun on stage.”he said.

Machiavellian and witty, the character Mariana has been conquering viewers with her shenanigans. The actress revealed that she doesn’t have much in common with the character other than determination and passion: “Mariana is a very determined person. And I believe that – as I do – but in a slightly mistaken way, follow her heart.”.

Carol was inspired by the character of Harry Potter Dolores Umbridge in the process of creating Mariana;

“I really enjoy working with archetypes. I believe that even in Harry Porter’s fantastic universe we can draw from a lot of inspirations. Dolores Umbridge, for example, has a thirst for power and at the same time a subtle irony that resonated with how I perceived the Mariana – which, in my view, has several contradictions. The inspiration was more for the caricature itself, but not exactly psychologically. From that point, I had more clarity of the curve that presents itself throughout the plot.”said.

The actress has already played villains in theater and cinema and believes that the difficulty of playing villains and good guys is the same, and that teledramaturgy characters are increasingly distant from Manichean stereotypes.

“Each villain, as well as each girl, has its peculiarities. Just as I believe that not every good guy is 100% good and not every villain is 100% evil. Perhaps the biggest difficulty of both is an existential paradox.”, he said.

In her first work with teledramaturgy, the actress has already debuted alongside big names such as Larissa Manoela, Bárbara Paz and Marisa Orthdebuting on TV in a big way.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to exchange and learn from everyone who crosses my path. Being with actors who made history not only in audiovisual but in Brazilian theater is an honor beyond measure. I feel privileged to live with such experienced people. and at the same time so generous.”said.
