“Acting was always something I had inside me, but I thought I would have to study a lot and it would be a long journey. When the invitation came, I thought it was important. I really wanted to go and play this character, who undergoes an amputation. I thought it was valuable that I was there acting.”, Paola said.
“I studied a lot, dedicated myself a lot and fell in love with acting. At the same time that I was open to new experiences, since I had never acted, I also got to know myself a lot. In this, we begin to see life with other eyes. I grew up and learned a lot.” continued.
Paola has been sharing on social networks all the posts with mention of her by viewers of the series, in addition to being thrilled with the performance of the plot. Every Day the Same Night remains at number one on the platform since its debut on January 25.
The series follows in first place on the platform since the date of its launch, on January 25, the actress said that she did not expect such a repercussion: “I did not expect the repercussions. I am grateful and surprised. There were many welcoming messages, which makes me very happy. I did my best, I studied, I put my heart in there and I really opened up.”
“In acting, you can’t stay on the surface. You have to dive in, dedicate yourself completely. I just wanted to tell this story in the best way, and I hope I did. I think people were happy with the issue of representation, because I was a person with a disability, which is really important”, said.
She also spoke about the months of preparation before the start of recording: “There was a lot of support from the direction, production and co-stars. We knew we were dealing with a very delicate topic and had to treat it respectfully, with the characters and with us.”
“My trainer said: ‘I know we’re going to mess with you a little bit, because you’re going to remember some things you’ve experienced'”, recalled her, who lost her left leg at age 20 due to a car accident.
Paola also recalled the trip to Santa Maria days before the premiere, in the chat the actress said that she found the survivor who inspired her character: “We passed in front of Kiss, went to the association, found three parents and some survivors. It was very memorable for me, and I’ve wanted to meet Kellen for a long time.”
“During preparation, we had no contact with the victims’ parents or with her. She knew I was playing the character, but there was no change. I went on a day trip to Santa Maria with Thelmo Fernandes, Débora Lamm ( who play parents of victims in the series) and our director.”, said.
“I told Kellen how much I put my heart there. Her story had to be told, and it’s not in Daniela Arbex’s book. So, a lot of people don’t even know that there was a survivor who lost her leg. I was super emotional”he spoke.
The actress also said that she did not skip any part of the plot, but respected her moment to see the series ready: “It was interesting to watch because as much as I recorded, I wasn’t part of multiple cores. These are very strong images, especially since we know they portray a tragedy. I watched, stopping to breathe because there’s no way not to get emotional. Before we recorded it, I was already crying during some of the readings.”
“Me and my character had completely different experiences, but there is a connection point, which is the moment of waking up and seeing that we lost our leg. I remembered a lot, but they were different reactions. After the accident, I felt a lot of relief, gratitude and thinking about my dreams and what I still wanted to do. Grazi is grateful to be alive, but there is a trauma, she lost her friends… in the scene, the emotion was real.”, added.
“I really allowed myself and I ended up remembering a little about myself, thinking that things could have been different. Today I see so many beautiful things that happened in my life, how it changed for much better. But that 20-year-old girl Paola , when she woke up, she had no idea about it. She was full of fear and insecurities. I think I went into this little place of uncertainty during the scene”, reported.
Paola also recalled her process after losing her leg: “When I lost my leg, there was an insecurity about what people would think when I showed up with a prosthesis. It didn’t last long, but for the first few days, I wore a long skirt. My first photo showing the prosthesis was in shorts, and I saw that people welcomed it.”
“Then, I went for a bikini. And the first time I posted without the prosthesis, there was also a lot of interaction. This awakening was day after day, I was adapting with the body. This is my new image and it will be like this as long as I exist. It was a slow, delicate and respectful process.”, continued.
“In the first days without the leg, I didn’t look at the amputation. I looked at it first bandaged, then without bandages and then in the mirror, where I said ‘Wow, you can really see that I lost my leg’. I didn’t force anything. Eight years later, I look at this little leg without a prosthesis and I know that it is because of it that I am alive and fulfilling many dreams”, he spoke.
