The wife of the legend of Ukrainian cinema died on February 1, 2023 after a long illness.
The famous Ukrainian singer, actress and legend researcher Maria Mykolaichuk died at the age of 81. The tragic news was reported on the Facebook page of the Chernivtsi Regional Council.
It is noted that People’s Artist of Ukraine Maria Mykolaichuk was born on April 8, 1941 in the village of Vytylivka, Chernivtsi region.
He graduated from the studio at the Chernivtsi Music and Drama Theater named after Olga Kobylyanskaya, where he worked as an actress. In 1961 he started singing in the Ukrainian Folk Choir named Hryhoriy Veryovka. Also, the wife of the legendary screenwriter and film director Ivan Mykolaichuk is a member of the folklore vocal trio Golden Keys with Nina Matvienko and Valentina Kovalskaya.
In 2005, Maria Mykolaichuk received the title of People’s Artist of Ukraine.
The last appearance on the big screen was the role of Irina Sergeevna in Roman Balayan’s film We are. We are close.
