The representative of Ukraine at the Miss Universe 2022 beauty pageant, Victoria Apanasenko, commented on the participation of Russian Anna Filimonova in the show. He spoke about it in an interview with TSN.
According to Apanasenko, the Ukrainian side tried to remove the Russian woman, but due to the conditions of the show, it failed.
“We did a lot of work on this, but she was given an American visa and this decided her participation in the contest. If the Americans issued her visa, then the organizing committee cannot refuse the participant,” said Miss Ukraine Universe.
He also spoke about the Russian woman’s attempt to take a photo next to him at the competition.
“He received an assignment from his organizing committee to take a selfie with me. And he tried to do it not for the first time. I only asked him one question and so far there is no answer to it – does he support the policy of his president, who started the war in Ukraine, or not. Several times they offered to take a “friendly picture,” Apanasenko said.
It will be remembered that the cost of the crown of the winner of the show is 5.58 million dollars. It was created by Mouawad, a high jewelry company based in Geneva, Switzerland.
