Fauci Clarifies That The Pandemic Does Not End, Then Tells Us ‘Out Of Pandemic Phase’ –

Dr Anthony Fauci said Wednesday that the pandemic was not over after he said the United States was no longer in the “pandemic phase” of COVID-19 in the country due to low mortality, hospitalization and incidents.

Speaking Wednesday to NPR Fauci, he said, “I want to clarify one thing. Perhaps I should say the acute phase of the pandemic phase. And I understand how this can lead to misinterpretations.”

And in The Washington Post notes on Wednesday, Fauci described the country as “in a phase of transition, from slowing numbers, hopefully to a more controlled phase and endemism.”

In his preliminary statements, the leading infectious disease expert told PBS NewsHour that while around the world there is “suspicion that this pandemic is still going on,” in the United States “we are on low decline now,” suggests state of the country. while COVID-19 cases continue to plateau weekly for fewer than 60,000 new cases. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it was reported one day.

This is less than the US accounts for More than 1 million New infections a day in January.

“We don’t have 900,000 new infections a day and dozens and dozens of hospitalizations and thousands of deaths.“ We’re at a low level right now, so if you say we’re at a pandemic stage in this country, we are, ”Fauch said Tuesday.

He warned that “we will not remove this virus,” which means that suspended vaccinations are needed, every year or so, to keep cases from rising.

While cases are typically declining and declining in the United States – where vaccinations are widely available – around the world, cases continue to have pandemic proportions, he said.

“A pandemic means a global infection that is spreading rapidly among people, so if you look at the global situation, you have no doubt that this pandemic is still going on,” Fauci said.

Worldwide, nearly 26 million cases have been reported in the past 28 days. According to data from Johns Hopkins University. Italy, Australia, Japan and Vietnam had the most cases during this period of about four weeks, while the US lags behind the UK.

Medical experts, including Fauci, have noticed that the number of cases in the United States is likely to be lower than it actually is. Its causes include home tests and some infected people do not receive medical attention because they have symptoms of the virus, if any.

More than half of the new cases of COVID-19 in the United States today are a variant of the omicron virus known as BA.2. Evidence suggests that although this variant is more contagious than the original coronavirus variant, it can cause less severe disease than the delta variant.
