Covid-19 is no longer a health emergency in Brazil; How are the measures against the disease?

After announcing the end of the covid-19 health emergency, Anvisa and Conass speak out on vaccines, medicines and deadlines; Understand

On the night of Easter Sunday, 17, the Ministry of Health announced the end of the Covid-19 health emergency.. The justification for the statement broadcast on television and radio was the drop in cases and deaths from the disease, in addition to the little more than 70% of the Brazilian population vaccinated with two doses or a single dose.

HOW DOES THE END OF THE EMERGENCY SITUATION IMPACT MEASURES AGAINST COVID-19?

What may have been in doubt is how measures against the virus will be affected. With the announcement of the change in the epidemiological status of the disease in Brazil, several decrees will be revised. An example is the medicines authorized for emergency use that, with the end of the situation, will no longer be valid in this context. In addition, CoronaVac is the immunizer that is also being applied in these conditions..

Even this Monday, 18, the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) issued a note communicating that it is in the process of reviewing the actions taken during the pandemic, such as vaccines and medicines. But one issue is emphasized as of great importance by the health agency: “Anvisa highlights that vaccination against Covid-19 must continue in progress and that the booster dose must be applied to the indicated audiences.

COUNCILS ASK FOR A LONGER DEADLINE FOR THE END OF THE COVID-19 HEALTH EMERGENCY STATE

The National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass) and the National Council of Municipal Health Secretaries (Conasems) also expressed their views in relation to the announcement by the Ministry of Health. The councils will send a document to the folder so that the end of the covid-19 state of emergency is greater, in a transitional period of at least three months.

Although the measures do not fall immediately, the Ministry of Health wants a period of just one month for the change of status. “We are going to propose that the deadline be adjusted. We understand that a month is not a reasonable period to end the state of emergency”said the president of Conass, Nésio Fernandes.
