Autumn is coming, and with it, the risk of seeing a new wave of Covid-19. Eighth in France. It’s been more than a week since infections really surged, surpassing 22,000 cases a day, up from 16,000 cases on September 7. And yet the head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, was very optimistic this week, declaring that “the world has never been better positioned to end the pandemic (…) the number of weekly deaths fell to the lowest since March 2020.”
An improvement that also applies to France. So there are about thirty deaths a day, up from about a hundred in mid-July. In addition, hospital data, as of now, is far from alarming, with fewer than forty critical care admissions per day.
