Europe has identified around 150 cases of salmonella associated with consumption of Kinder Egg
About 150 cases of salmonella in Kinder Egg chocolate have been detected in nine European countries. The outbreak sparked an alert in health authorities around the world and, this Thursday, 14, the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) prohibited the marketing of Kinder brand products in Brazilthen “they are the target of international alert and recall”.
ARE THERE CONTAMINATED KINDER EGG PRODUCTS IN BRAZIL?
“Salmonella (Salmonellosis) is a bacterium of the Enterobacteriaceae family that causes food poisoning and, in rare cases, can cause serious infections and even death”, explains the Ministry of Health. Contamination of these products by the bacteria worries public health authorities. In Brazil, there are no reports of infection by the bacteria associated with Kinder Egg.
Also this Thursday, the International Network of Food Safety Authorities (Infosan) sent a notification to Anvisa informing that Brazil is not on the list of countries that received the contaminated batches of products manufactured by Ferrero in Belgium.
Anvisa’s measure has preventive action, in which the agency “follows the monitoring of the case with the company and follows the information provided by other international authorities”. In relation to people infected in other countries, patients reported symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting..
