CDC Says It Will Change Agency Following Pandemic Criticism –

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Monday that it will undergo a month -long review and evaluation by its agency following criticism of the corovirus pandemic treatment.

CDC Director Rochelle Valensky, in an e-mail from the agency obtained Ნ New York Times and Washington Post, said the CDC has hired a senior federal health officer to review “structures, systems and processes “of the agency.

“The lessons and feedback on the COVID-19 pandemic I have received from inside and outside the agency over the past year indicate that it is time to step back and strategically deploy the CDC to support future public health.” . He said, according to the Times.

Jim McRae, who serves as associate administrator in the Department of Health and Administration of Human Resources and Services, will lead the review. It will start on April 11th.

Three senior CDC officials will help Makra gather feedback on the agency’s structure and offer suggestions on what could be strategically changed, Valensky said.

The goal of the process is to update and modernize the agency’s “core competencies”. These include workforce expansion, data modernization, laboratory capabilities, health justice, and its response to disease spread and preparedness, the Post reported.

The CDC has been working on reporting data and speeding up scientific processes over the past year in its response to the pandemic. But this review, among other issues, will work to institutionalize and formalize these processes, the agency told HuffPost in an email Tuesday.

“These efforts will strengthen and transform the CDC to better support the future of public health and to modernize and optimize the agency to deliver science and programming to Americans,” the spokesman said.

The agency was targeted by pandemic critics before Valensky took office in early 2021.

Critics have attacked the agency for such things Immediate recommendation Face masks, which eventually realize the virus is in the air, tell people who have been fully vaccinated that they can stop wearing masks indoors and then tell them to wear masks on inside the house.

He was also criticized for advising people who tested positive for the virus but were asymptomatic to only leave in isolation after five days, which was half the previous recommendation.

Valensky acknowledged the various barriers that have emerged to the agency.

“Never in its 75-year history has the CDC made decisions so quickly, often on a limited basis, in real time and based on emerging science,” Valensky said in a statement Monday about the agency’s handling in the pandemic.
