The singer, who shared in April 2020 that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, told GMA on Monday that she is “really free to get information.”
“I was very happy because I started a relationship with myself and I think that’s the best part,” said Gomez, adding that he was “the happiest person I’ve ever been”.
The “Only Murders in the Building” star first publicized her diagnosis in a show on Miley Cyrus ’live Instagram talk show“ Bright Minded ”at the start of the pandemic.
“After years of going through a lot of different things, I realized that I was bipolar, so when I was looking for more information, it really helped me,” the actor told Cyrus at the time. “I will not be afraid the moment I hear this. I think people are scared here, right? ”
In the same chat, Gomez said seeking professional medical help reminded him of how his mother helped him overcome extreme fear when he was young.
“When I finally said what I was going to say, I wanted to know everything about it, and it took away the fear,” Gomez said. “When I was little, I was scared of thunder and my mom bought me all these different books about thunder. [saying]”The more you educate yourself, the more you won’t be afraid.” And it worked perfectly. “
And while learning more about her diagnosis has helped improve the singer’s emotional well-being, one big change in her lifestyle has also changed: staying offline.
“I haven’t been to the Internet in 4 and a half years,” Gomez told “Good Morning America.” “It completely changed my life. The happier I am, the more I have, the more I interact with people. It makes me feel normal ”.
