In the middle of a brightly lit room, a rounded white robot awaits its next patient. Called the CyberKnife, this machine, vaguely reminiscent of the vending machines on car assembly lines, is the ultimate in radiotherapy. Two technicians work in a small adjoining room, shielded from powerful X-rays by a 25cm-thick armored steel door.
