The term “Sexologist” is not an officially recognized profession. Anyone can call themselves a sexologist this way, warns Dr. Carol Burte, president of the National Society of Sexologists. So it is possible to find complete charlatans, self-proclaimed “sex therapists” who have no training and feel entitled to extort money from people in distress for advice that has no value other than personal opinion.
