1st COVID -19 Shots For Children Under 5 Years Possible On June 21 –

WASHINGTON (AP) – The Biden administration said Thursday that children under the age of five will receive their first doses of COVID -19 vaccine on June 21 if federal regulators allow age -group vaccinations. as planned.

White House COVID-19 coordinator Aashish Jham outlined the administration’s plan for the last remaining age group to receive hits. He said an external group of consultants from the Food and Drug Administration will meet June 14-15 to review Pfizer and Moderna videos for young children. Delivery to doctors ’offices and pediatric facilities will begin shortly after FDA approval, with the first shots available next week.

Jaham said states could begin placing orders for childhood vaccines on Friday and said the administration has an initial supply of 10 million doses. He said it could take several days before the vaccines reach across the country and are distributed.

“Our hope is that in a few weeks, any parent who wants to vaccinate their child will be able to make an appointment,” Jham said.

The Biden administration is forcing countries to prioritize large sites, such as children’s hospitals, and make appointments beyond normal business hours to make it easier for parents to vaccinate their children.

Jham acknowledged the “frustration” of parents of young children who have been relying on children’s films for more than a year.

“At the end of the day, we all want to act fast, but we have to do it right,” he said.
