Is Covid-19 directly responsible for some cases of diabetes?

If Covid is much more subdued in the media, all the questions raised during the epidemic are far from being resolved and remain the subject of many studies. One of them is: Are children who have had Covid more likely to have type 1 diabetes?

As of September 2022, several studies do highlight an increase in the number of cases during the pandemic. However, most of these studies did not differentiate between children who were infected and those who were not. German researchers therefore decided to revisit the question by analyzing the health data of more than 1.8 million young Bavarian patients.

Especially with type 1 diabetes, we can detect the presence of autoantibodies in the body more than ten years before symptoms appear.
