Bill Murray admitted on Saturday that his behavior on set caused a woman to complain and stop filming his latest film.
The actor and comedian, in his first closing comments on “Being Mortal,” described the incident as a “difference of opinion,” but declined to provide details of what happened or who was involved.
“I did something that I think was fun and it wasn’t taken that way,” Lo told CNBC in an interview at the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders ’Meeting. “The film studio wanted to do the right thing, so they wanted to control everything, investigate, and so they stopped production.”
Murray said he and the unnamed woman were talking about it and “trying to make peace with each other.” He did not say when or if production will resume and whether he will continue starring in the film.
“We’re both professionals,” Murray said of the woman. “We like each other’s work. “I think we like each other and if you really don’t understand and trust each other, there’s no point in working further or making a film.”
The 71-year-old comedians “Ghostbusters” and “Caddyshack” suggest that a changeable character, considered appropriate humor, is a determining factor.
“It was a real education for me,” he said. “The world has been different since I was young. What I thought was funny as a child is not the same as what is funny now. “Everything changes and weather changes, so it’s important for me to understand that.”
Murray added: “I think it’s a sad dog not to learn. I don’t want to be a sad dog and I’m not going to do that.”
Searchlight Pictures has confirmed that production has been suspended but has so far declined to provide details, citing the ongoing investigation. Entertainment Site Expiration Reports A lawsuit against Murray was filed earlier this month and production was suspended last week.
“Being Mortal” stars Murray, Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer and Aziz Ansar, who is the film’s screenwriter, director and producer.
Production began in Los Angeles in March and the film is due to hit theaters next year. The film is based on the 2014 non-fiction book Surgeon and Author Dr. Atul Gavande in Lifelong Care, “Being Mortal: Medicine and the Importance of the End”.
