Stephen Colbert blasted former President Donald Trump for his “major announcement” that ended up being a $100 “digital transaction ledger,” or NFT, during his monologue on Thursday. (See below.)
Trump, who teased the ad with an animation of him as a superhero shooting lasers from his eyes, unveiled the collection on Thursday. Self-promotional cards presented with strange representationsincluding illustrations of him as a cowboy, race car driver and astronaut.
“The Late Show” host joked that Trump will use his laser powers to fry chicken before preparing the former president’s bizarre new book collection.
“The former president of the United States, the former most powerful man in the world, launched a line of trading cards: it’s ‘Gropémon,’ with Pikacoup,” joked Colbert, who introduced a cartoon of a Pikachu. monster dressed as a rioter since January 6 and “QAnon Shaman” Jacob Chansley.
Colbert, who said Trump’s website is “www.thesaddukingingyingyouveeen.org,” later played Trump for getting into the NFT market.
“After that, they’re launching an exclusive line of rotary phones,” Colbert joked.
