“They were happy to lie to protect my brother,” Prince Harry says in a new Netflix trailer

Prince Harry has said people are “happy to lie to protect” his brother Prince William in an explosive new trailer for his wife and Meghan Markle’s Netflix documentary.

The final three episodes of the series will air on Thursday, with the content previewed in a new clip that surfaced on Monday.

In it, Harry is seen celebrating what he calls his ‘flight of freedom’ – presumably when he and Meghan left the UK for the US – before calling out ‘institutional gaslighting’.

“I wonder what would have happened to us if we hadn’t left when we did,” she begins.

Harry is later heard saying: “They were happy to lie to protect my brother. They were never willing to tell the truth to protect us.”

Meghan also says: “I wasn’t fed to the wolves, I was fed to the wolves.”

The trailer highlights the couple’s new beginnings in the US, with Meghan noting that the move has given them “a chance to create that home we’ve always wanted”.

“I’ve always thought this was a fight worth fighting for,” Harry adds.

The “unprecedented and insightful” documentary series, directed by Oscar nominee Liz Garbus, was billed as a global Netflix event, with Harry and Meghan sharing “the other side of their high-profile romance”.

In the first three episodes, which aired last Thursday, the couple tackle a range of topics, with Meghan detailing her first meeting with Prince William, Kate and Harry, talking about how she ‘caught’ early memories of her late mother Princess Diana . .

Netflix and the royal family later sparred over whether the institution had been approached to comment on the series, as said in a statement opening the show.

A royal source told HuffPost that Netflix has not attempted to contact members of the royal family, Kensington Palace or Buckingham Palace.

However, a Netflix source insisted to HuffPost that both King Charles and Prince William’s offices were contacted and given time to respond before the docuseries was released.

The first three episodes of Harry and Meghan are available now on Netflix, with the final three available on Thursday.
