Critics hoping Georgian lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Green is not on the ballot because of her role in inciting a violent attack on the U.S. Capitol are asking the judge to consider a new published text message he wrote to former President Donald Trump for conservation. In the office.

Green testified for three hours at a hearing in Atlanta last week, where he repeated Trump’s lie about stealing the 2020 election because of widespread election fraud. In court on Wednesday, lawyers wrote that the new text message undermined Green’s credibility.
“Green’s testimony at the hearing that he doesn’t remember discussing the state of the war with anyone is already suspicious.” This text with President Trump’s chief of staff makes his testimony even more credible, as it appears to be a message to a recipient who will be remembered by a reasonable person testifying to the truth, ”the lawyers wrote.
“Eleven days after the failed uprising, Green is still fighting for a peaceful transfer of power by supporting out-of-court means. “This text, like his statements on Jan. 5, shows how long he wants to help Trump stay in power.”
Greene’s lawyer James Bopp said the new text is unproven and actually shows that Greene is moving away from the idea of martial law. “It has nothing to do with the case. “It’s completely harmless,” he said.
The Republican is among several members of Congress trying to remove Free Speech for People on the ballot, a strategy the group intends to use against Trump if he votes in 2024 to return to his old office.
It is stated in part of the 14th amendment that no one who has previously promised to uphold the Constitution but engaged in the uprising can no longer hold office.
Judge Charles Bodro is expected to preside next week. Georgia’s primary election will be held on May 24, where Green faces opposition.
Despite losing nationwide elections with 7 million votes and 306-232 votes in the Electoral College, Trump became the first president in more than two centuries to refuse to peacefully relinquish power. The incitement to attack the Capitol on Jan. 6 – the latest attempt to stay in office – killed five people, including a policeman, injured 140 other officers and was preceded by four policemen who committed suicide.
However, Trump remains the dominant figure in the Republican Party and openly speaks out about re -voting in the 2024 presidential election.
