This unconventional makeup technique is experiencing a resurgence of interest on TikTok. And for good reasons. it allows you to easily sculpt and refine your face while providing a natural effect.
It’s a technique that’s been used by “old school” professional makeup artists for years, but it’s making a resurgence today on TikTok. Indeed, the videos that collect millions of views on the social network update this method of makeup called “paints”. As its name suggests (in English it means “paint underwear”), this trick consists of layering several makeup products on your face before covering them with a layer of foundation.
In other words, as American makeup artist Cathy Jane Hughes explains in a video posted on her TikTok account, you need to change the traditional order of applying beauty products. For example, start by applying bronzer (or contour stick), then blush, concealer, and finally highlighter. After mixing the different materials one by one with a brush or sponge, it remains to finish by applying a light layer of base.
Effect shiny natural
According to professional makeup artists, who are ardent advocates of this method, the main advantage of the “paint” look is to create a very natural look with a skin-like texture. The end result would give the impression of a dewy glow and a glow that comes from “within”.
It’s also a good way to sculpt your face for beginners or the most impatient, as you don’t need to draw perfectly symmetrical lines and spend long minutes blending everything for what’s supposed to be a classic silhouette.
Indeed, the fact of covering the face with a layer of tonal foundation allows for a more even tone without effort, as well as to soften colors and materials that may be too pigmented.
