Netflix’s newest romantic series premiered last Friday, the 22nd, and has been a huge hit with the public.
Netflix’s new romantic series “Heartstopper” just debuted on the streaming platform, but it has already become a huge hit with worldwide audiences, occupying the Top 10 in several countries.
Based on the graphic novel of the same name written by Alice Oseman, the production tells the story of the relationship between Nick, a boy who is still discovering his sexuality, and Charlie, an openly gay young man. The cute love story between the boys captivated fans so much that there are already several requests on social media for the release of a second season.
So far, the new episodes have not yet been confirmed by Netflix, however, even the creator of the story has already revealed through Twitter that she would be interested in a new season. When asked about the possibility of new seasons, Alice he said:
“I wish there were! But we’re only commissioned for one season for now. If the first season goes well, I hope we have more!”

During an interview with the Radio Times, the author also revealed that, should the streaming service be interested, it would take approximately four seasons to cover the full story of Nick and Charlie’s relationship.
“It would probably be four seasons to cover the full story. I didn’t do any detailed planning or anything, but it’s very easy to break the books down into seasons, so four I think would work,” Oseman said.
What could be addressed in the second season?
The first season left many open issues that could still be developed in new episodes. One of the main topics is the relationship between Nick and Charlie, which after being out to the rugby player’s mother, is now ready to be revealed to everyone around him.
Another important point to be addressed is the school’s reaction to the revelation that Nick and Charlie are a couple. It is worth remembering that during the first season, we clearly follow the homophobia led by Harry that runs through the halls of the institution.
Furthermore, in the last few episodes we also find out that Tao and Elle have feelings for each other, but that they are not yet ready to admit them. In a new season, the relationship between the two could be developed, showing the couple’s acceptance of what they are really feeling.
With eight episodes, the complete first season of “Heartstopper” is now available on Netflix. Check out the trailer for the new production!
