Tia Mowry discussed her split from husband Cory Hardrict on Wednesday and the moment she learned their marriage had reached the end of the road.
The “Family Reunion” actor told “Today” hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager that she realized she experienced a “sadness” at some point during her relationship with her co-star.
“Life is short,” Mowry said, before reflecting on the deaths of her grandmother and Alaina Housley, her niece Tamera Mowry-Housley’s twin sister, killed in a mass shooting at a California bar in 2018.
“There was just a moment in me where I was like, ‘You know what? You have to log in, see what is really happening with your happiness. Life is short, let’s go,” he said.
“Let’s work on you and really focus on what really matters here, which is, at the end of the day, your peace and joy and happiness,” she recalled thinking.
Mowry added that she has also been in therapy, calling herself “a big fan” of the treatment.
The former “The Game” star later said his marriage was still a “success,” likening his union with Hardrict to a school syllabus.
“Learn, grow, evolve, create. And I was able to create some wonderful, wonderful children with Cory,” she said. “And at the end of that program … it’s a graduation, it’s a celebration. So that’s basically how I see it now.”

Mowry announced her split from the “All American: Homecoming” actor on Instagram last month after 14 years of marriage. They have two children: Cree, 11, and Cairo, 4.
“We will maintain a friendship while covering our beautiful children,” she wrote in her October announcement. “I’m grateful for all the happy times we’ve had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we begin this new chapter moving forward in our lives.”
