Prince Harry talks about dealing with ‘hurt and pain’ in emotional letter

Prince Harry wrote an emotional letter to one of his charities on Sunday, which was Remembrance Sunday in Britain

The Duke of Sussex marked the occasion with a letter to Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity which supports children who have lost a parent who served in the British armed forces. The Duke has long been involved with the organization, which also helps bereaved children stay connected to the military community.

Harry began his letter by addressing the loss of his mother, Princess Diana, who died in August 1997 when William and Harry were just 15 and 12. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Diana’s death.

“We share a bond even without ever meeting because we share the loss of a parent,” Harry wrote in his letter. “I know firsthand the hurt and pain that comes with loss and I want you to know that you are not alone.”

“Although there will be difficult feelings today as we pay tribute to heroes like your mom or dad, I hope you can find comfort and strength knowing that their love for you lives on and shines,” the military veteran said.

“One of the ways I’ve learned to cope is through community and talking about my pain, and I couldn’t be more thankful and relieved that you have amazing people walking alongside you on your journey,” she explained. “We all know some days are harder than others, but together those days are easy.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also celebrated both Veterans Day and Remembrance Day on November 11, sharing a black-and-white photo on their website Archewell and thanking members of the armed forces “today and every day” for their service .

“These brave men and women and their families have made tremendous sacrifices and epitomize duty and service,” the couple said in a joint statement before listing the organizations they work with that provide assistance to veterans, service members and others. the families.

The Duke of Sussex marked the significant festivities on Friday with a visit to the Pearl Harbor National Memorial in Hawaii.

In Britain, King Charles III and the rest of the royal family held their first memorial service on Sunday after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
