Dwyane Wade surprised Gabrielle Union with new ink as a sweet tribute.
The actor posted a video on Instagram on Thursday, capturing the moment she realized her husband had gotten a new tattoo in her honor. The clip shows Union pointing her phone camera at the retired NBA star as he shows off his new design on his inner wrist, and she gasps after noticing his initials, “GU,” tattooed next to a heart.
“The moment you find out your man has his 17th tattoo,” she captioned the post, along with a monocle emoji. He called it the “best” birthday surprise ever.
Wade got the tattoo while he and Union were visiting Cape Town, South Africa. The married couple traveled through Africa to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on October 29.

Union celebrated the half-century milestone in an Instagram post on Oct. 30, writing that they threw an “incredible” party in Zanzibar, Tanzania, the first stop on their African tour.
“I am beyond grateful for all my loved ones who flew around the world to celebrate with me,” she captioned the post.
Wade paid tribute to Union in a video he posted to Instagram on her birthday.
“I am forever grateful and indebted to the universe for choosing me as my husband!” he wrote . “Let’s keep doing it with love, let’s do what we want it to do!”
