Excited to be able to reunite with her Peruvian audience, Susana Baca announced that she would return to the Gran Teatro Nacional (GTN) on October 8 to present “urgent words”, a concert with which he had already toured important stages in Europe; and whose tour continues through countries such as Argentina, Uruguay and Chile before arriving in Lima.
Three years after his last presentation on GTN, Susana Baka promises a touching show in which he will take a musical journey through his repertoire, including several songs from “Palabras Urgentes”, the album he released in 2021 and which is the title of this concert.
It should be noted that this disc is regarded by international critics as one of the best works of his brilliant creative career spanning over 50 years. Tickets for the show produced by DEA Promotora are already on sale on Teleticket.

“Urgent Words”, award-winning production
Produced by Michael Liga, frontman of the Snarky Puppy and published by Real World Records, the record company founded by Peter Gabriel, Palabras Urgentes contains elements of Susana Baca’s career as an explorer of the roots of Afro-Peruvian music; and, in turn, reflections on feminism, freedom, and education.
With an innovative proposal and contemporary sound, the album contains ten songs that the Peruvian artist has recorded in her studio in Cañete. A work that earned him the award for America’s Best World Record, awarded by the prestigious English music critics’ magazine. SongLines Music Awards 2022.
The new version of “The Dark Wound” (Chabuca Granda), conceived as a tribute to Mikaela Bastidas, one of the most courageous women of our Independence, opens the exquisite “set list” of the album “Palabras Urgentes”.
Susana Baka She also sings to Afro-Peruvian leader Catalina Buendía de Pecho and Argentine heroine Juana Azurduy. He also brings the tango “Cambalache” with verses adapted to criticize the corrupt; an adaptation of “Sorongo”, the “anti-racist” theme of Tite Cure Alonso and “Color de rosa”, a poem by Alejandro Romualdo, to name but a few of the songs.
